The Low Maintenance Color

Bayalage has been the hot new color ever since it step back inot the spotlight. It has been around a long time and doesn’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. Out with the over processed, heavily foiled blonde and in with “I just came back from the tropics, “natural”” highlights. There have been all sorts of different names and styles for bayalage, from summer lites to tortise shell hair. But when it comes down to it bayalage mean free hand painting. So it’s up to the stylist to use their judgement on where to place all those high lights! Bayalage is perfect for those who want to stay up to trends, keep the integrity of their hair and don’t want to have to go back every four weeks bc they see their roots. Now that doesn’t mean that their is no effort in bayalage at all. There very well can be. It depends on what your hair looks like now, and where you want to be. For the least amount of upkeep it is better to stay with colors close to your natural. Some people wish to go darker at the base, all that means it that they may have to come in sooner for a touch up then others. As with any color you choose it is best to do your research! Find which style you like best and then discuss options with your stylist! Did you know you can even get a bayalage with extensions? Sometimes you can even create a balayage effect with extensions alone! If you were interested in booking a consultation with me you can call the bb makeup Menomonie,wiIMG_20150806_162107 location!

How to keep that volume

While I am definitely loving the heat this summer has been bringing, it has brought it’s fair share of bumps in the road! One those is humidity. We certainly have those days where it feels more like your in a steam room than walking to your car. There is nothing quite like feeling all efforts you put into getting ready melting away and deflating with in five mins of leaving air conditioned bliss. But don’t be too disappointed there are steps you can take to help combat humidity’s effects.

One of the most frequently asked questions I encounter as a stylist is how to keep a hair style on humid days. Well the answer is products. Now they aren’t a magical wand that means your hair will look the same all day but they help a ton! My number one product suggestion is a humidity resistant thermal protector like Volume 2 Heaven. Thermal Protectors are like a primer for your hair! I use them after I towel dry my hair before blow drying. Better to fight humidity and protect you hair before you even start. It won’t take a lot, take big sections of hair and spray from a foot away so it’s a mist, then brush it through. The more thermal protector you have on your hair the higher the chances you hair will get a “crispy” finish. Once your hair is blow dried I would then mist your hair again before you style your hair. The heat protection will have worn off with the drying process and you definitely want to keep it protected if you plan on using heat! For even more humidity fighting power use a humidity resistant hair spray and shine spray as well!
